Richard’s Centipede Light Box

Super excited to share this one with everyone. Richard put together one of the cleanest light boxes we have seen thus far. The candy apple green is fantastic, and from the looks of it, an LED strip with remote allows for easy on/off action. Add a little whisky into the mix, and you’ve got yourself a good time. Our shop prefers Basil Hayden personally, but in any case, cheers to Richard’s good work!

Keith’s Amazing 6 Slot Neo Geo

It’s pretty rare to see a 6 slot in good condition. Most of the time they’ve been beat up and in Keith’s case, it was no different. From powder coating the control panel, to replacing the LED displays, it seems he’s done an amazing job bringing this guy back from the dead. Also gotta love the nice and tidy shock box colletion. Check his story below:

First name or gamer tag: Keith
Years collecting: 1
Rarest game: I don’t think I have any truly rare games yet, but Waku Waku 7 was the toughest pick up so far.
Favorite game: Metal Slug 3
Anything about the Neo Geo world: I’ve wanted a Neo Geo system since I saw the ads for the AES in GamePro and the MVS machines in the arcades in the 90’s.  Last year I decided it was time and began to look for a 1-slot board to consolize.  It seemed like the smart, lowest barrier to entry.  During my search, a big red 6-slot cab just happened to show up on Craigslist and I couldn’t resist.  Of course, I had no idea what I was doing with an arcade cabinet…

It had a wonky monitor and only one cartridge slot was working when I got it.  There were missing parts and a really sticky control panel overlay sticker.  It took me a couple months to find all the parts and get everything working again, but I enjoyed every minute.  Now I have a fully functional and partially restored 6-slot in my living room.
The kids love it, especially my three year old.  Even though he is too young to really play, he still likes to get on a pedestal next to me while I play and try his hardest.  It’s pretty adorable when he asks to play Metal Slug with me.
I am grateful to people in the community like Tim.  His excellent mini marquee reproductions really look great lit up and I love having them actually match the games in play.

Terminator 2 Light Box

We always like seeing alternative uses to the marquees. This one comes in from Johnny D. A very creative use for displaying some badass Terminator 2 memorabilia. From the looks of it, a color changing LED and some classic VHS and DVD cases. Thanks for the pics Johnny.

The Punisher Big Blue Arcade Marquee

We’ve been searching for a good scan of The Punisher big blue for a while now. Super rare game to begin with, but the CPS2 big blue dynamo even more so. Lucky for us, the good fellas at Next Level Pinball in Oregon had one, and were nice enough to let us scan it. Check it out in our store HERE, and take a look at a play through below:

Trevor’s Neo Geo Collection

We’ve always enjoyed collecting Neo Geo carts and marquees. In fact our first arcade was a Neo Geo 2 slot more than 10 years ago. So we’ve decided to start a little category on our website called Neo Geo World. Our first participant is Trevor, check out his story below:

First name or gamer tag: Trevor
Years collecting: 3
Rarest game: Twinkle Star Sprites
Favorite game: Metal Slug
Anything about the Neo Geo world: I always loved playing in the arcades any chance I could. When I saw metal slug in the 90s I thought the graphics and gameplay were the best they could ever get.

Now that I’m a little (lot) older I’ve got space in my home for 1 arcade machine, which has always been a dream. I immediately thought of the Neo Geo for metal slug, and then when I realized Neo Geo cabinets took cartridges that could easily be swapped, and hold up to 6 games at once. I was sold. If you can only get 1 arcade machine, why not get one that can natively play over 100 games!

I had to search for a long time, and could never find any dedicated Neo Geo cabinets where I live in Canada, so I bit the bullet and shipped one from TNT Amusements in the United States who restores arcade cabinets.

I try and fit at least one 10-15 minute arcade session in everyday, as really gives me something to look forward to at the end of the day.

I love spending time on this thing, and have ordered over 60 mini marquees from Tim to be used for my collection once I get the new led marquee lights.

-Trevor

Thanks for the write up Trevor! Keep the vibe alive!
